The Tübingen AI Center is a research institution hosted by the University of Tübingen in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. Its researchers aim at developing more robust, efficient, and accountable learning systems. Embedded in Tübingen’s rapidly growing science and technology campus, the Tübingen AI Center cooperates closely with ELLIS – a Europe-wide research network in machine learning – as well as the Cyber Valley initiative, which connects researchers with start-ups and industry in the area.

    The Tübingen AI Center is seeking to fill up to two positions:

    Lecturer (m/w/d; grade A13; permanent)

    We are looking for people with enthusiasm for teaching who would like to make a lasting contribution to improving basic teaching in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Computer Science at the University of Tübingen.

    Responsibilities: 

    • 12 semester hours (SWS) per semester, including at least one large basic course in Computer Science for the bachelor’s program. This includes topics in practical computer science (e.g., programming) and technical computer science (e.g., chip design, computer architecture).
    • Contribution to course offerings related to Machine Learning in bachelor's and master’s programs.
    • Innovating and improving teaching through new formats and continual revision based on evaluations.
    • Participation in collaborative research projects within the Tübingen AI Center.
    • Pursuit of independent research and possibly leadership of third-party funded projects.

    Requirements:

    • Completed PhD.
    • Several years of relevant professional experience.
    • Proven excellence in teaching basic computer science subjects.
    • Strong proficiency in both German (C2) and English.

    The application must be accompanied by a detailed teaching concept that addresses specific ideas for improving teaching in the computer science degree programs at the University of Tübingen as well as new and innovative forms of teaching.
